1. She needs a legal guardianship given to the parents so that they may treat her for any medical if she needs it or be there for any decisions. IT must be notary public signed.
2. She needs all shots up to date and will have to take those records with her and also needs a pass port up to date that she has to carry on her person at all times and a copy of her birth certificate as well must go with her.
3. She needs a big hug from mommy too and a suitcase full of personal items that she may not be able to get in another country… like feminine things.
4. A phone that can be used across continents would be a good thing like vonage so she can always be within reach of her parents.
5. If she is on any medications that she has to carry she will need a written statement from the doctor that says she must take them and she has to carry them in the bottles they came in from the pharmacy. If she needs refills she best take those with her because most countries don’t make them the way they do with the rules for good medicaitons like the USA does.

If she has a passport, there isn’t really any legal procedure that needs to be followed, however, you would be wise to draw up something that grants the other parents permission to make medical decisions, etc. For example, if she is injured and has to go to a hospital and the doctor needs permission to operate, etc. Granted, you’ll want the parents to try to contact you, but if you cannot be reached, they need to be empowered to make decisions on her behalf. Frankly, if anyone questions them about her travelling with them, the medical document shows that her parents are aware that she is travelling with them and that you approve.

I was in this situation when I traveled with a teacher to South America. First of all, your daughter will need to have her travel papers – like a passport. Then you will have to complete an affidavit stating that you give permission for your daughter to travel without you. There is no official form for this, but here is a link to one: http://www.ta2000.com/docs/minor_auth.html. The affidavit needs to be signed in front of a Notary! Your daughter should also carry her custody papers to prove that you are indeed her legal guardian, and a birth certificate. Otherwise, I think she should be fine. You can always call the cruise line she will be with, and they will tell you exactly what she needs!

You must get a consent form, fill it out, both you and your husband sign it in the presence of a notary and she’s good to go.
Obviously she needs travel documents. A passport is pretty much required these days to travel anywhere outside USA (Homeland Security)
The reason for this consent form is that in the past, many separated or divorced parents have taken their children out of USA and never returned. They do not bother going through due process of law regarding custody … they just skedaddle with the child/ren.
Most countries are no where as diligent as USA in “trying” to be fair minded with regard to custody. Once the child is in a foreign country of the “other” parent it is nearly impossible to use their legal system. The American parent is an “outsider”.

I don’t know if this helps but my wife and I found that it was much cheaper to look for flights and hotels a la carte, on our own, with the usual sites like Expedia, Orbitz, etc., rather than pay for package deals through travel agencies. Of course we were booking several months in advance. If you’re going last minute, that may not be true.

Tangek has some great answers. There’s a guy that owns his own class A and rents it out to take people on tours of the US. He’s the driver so he always has company while traveling and it pays almost all his expenses to travel. There is also a job delivering RVs around the country.
